Toronto-based punk rockers the Class Assassins are gearing up to ring in the fall with the release of a new seven-inch. The A-side is pressed with the track "Treason," but right now you can stream the flip, "Start Again." The gritty, distorted guitar work on "Start Again" sees the Class Assassins working the more melodic side of punk, proving to be nostalgic for those who grew up listening to Epitaph bands of the '90s. Check out the track below in all its chanting, throwback glory to see what we mean. The single is due out on Saturday (October 15) via Rebel Time Records.

Let the Occupations begin!
A bit busy lately, but I think we should chime in quickly on the Occupy Wall Street movement, which seems to have come out of no where and also gaining a ton of momentum across the continent.
First off, here is a great piece titled "FROM OCCUPATION TO EXPROPRIATION! Build on the Anarchist and Revolutionary Potentialities of the Occupy Wall Street Movement." It is available as a pdf as well, so pass it around. LINK: http://m1aa.org/?p=345
Secondly, there are actions across Canada beginning on Oct 15th. For Hamilton, meetings have already begun, go here for Occupy Hamilton Facebook group. There are events happening in Vancouver, Kingston, Toronto..and others, so if you are interested, do the proper internet searches to find the one in your town. Finally, since Thanks Giving just passed, check out this video of Indigenous Groups at Occupy Wall Street, as they mark Columbus Day, a day of Mourning, not Celebration. LINK: http://www.democracynow.org/2011/10/11/indigenous_groups_at_occupy_wall_street
UPDATE: Here is another analysis of the movement, this time for Worker's Solidarity Movement (Ireland) entitled "Politics averted: thoughts on the 'Occupy X' movement." http://www.wsm.ie/c/politics-averted-occupy-movement

We wanted to make sure to bring some attention to the new bands that were formed from members of The Class War Kids and The Brat Attack. What's the connection? You'll recall Davey played in both The Class War Kids and The Brat Attack, while Patty, Kyle & Katie shared time in The Class War Kids. All four are musicians in the truest sense and all have put in a whole heck of a lot of effort to support and keep underground music alive in this country. Their albums gave life to our label, early on, and we are forever grateful. So, we must let you know what they have been up to! Here goes... Patty, Kyle and Katie are just about to release a new record with Brutal Youth. They've just posted an excellent new track off the release called "Postman." Lyrically, an incredible song, musically, just the same. If you were a fan of The Class War Kids, this comes highly recommended. The recording/production sounds much better than their first release titled "Spill Your Guys," but that is far from saying that you should not also grab that free download. Stay tuned for details regarding their new album which is being released on vinyl. The band continues to be active in South Western Ontario, having already made trips into the States as well. Davey is currently on tour with The Dead Peasants Revolt, going all the way from St. John's to Vancouver and back; they also just completed a European tour. If you were a fan of The Brat Attack, you'll definitely like their album "Resistance is Fertile" (Free download) as Davey's guitar work is as catchy as ever. Mix in a diverse range of tunes with vocals coming from all members of the band, and you got yourself a pretty dandy release. Songs about social injustice, homophobia, racism, sexism, fascism, animal liberation, friendship and global awareness to boot! You can see them live at the Oct 16th Hamilton Punk Matinee. Posted: 09/12/2011 By: Rebel Time Coming this Fall, it's the new "Treason" 7 inch from The Class Assassins!
Rebel Time Records is stoked to be releasing this one-two punch from one of our favourite Canadian bands. These guys have an enviable punk rock pedigree, with members having done time over the years in Southern Ontario outfits such as Direct Action, Bitter Grin, Problem Children, Sinkin' Ships, Chronic Submission and Hockey Teeth. Their sound is classic, sing-a-long, catchy-as-heck, melodic and memorable streetpunk. Think Stiff Little Fingers, think Sham 69, think The Angelic Upstarts. The band has also released albums on TKO Records and Insurgence Records! Every Class Assassins song is, as one reviewer put it, a "shout-along, working-class punk anthem." Check out The Class Assassin's jamming out one of their new tracks in their practice space and stay tuned for pre-order info. The band will be doing a release show in Toronto, Hamilton and Kitchener, more TBA. Check out their new blog here.
