The Rebel Fest Vol. 1 free compilation is also still available, and features all 15 bands that played in 2011.
Last years Rebel Fest raised money for G20 Political Prisoners. We are yet to set a theme for this years event, however, you can expect some amazing local Hamilton area groups to be tabling. We would like to theme this years event around May Day and Building a General Strike here in Ontario, however, there is much to be discussed in this regard. More details to be announced in the coming weeks, but for now, help us spread the word and mark those dates down on your calender! We will be organizing buses from Kitchener/Waterloo, if you would like to see buses in your town, please get in touch at rebeltimerecords[AT]gmail[DOT]com. Maybe we can help make that happen.
DEFEND HAMILTON! STEEL CITY SOLIDARITY!

- RTR NEW YEARS NOISE DEMO:
2011 is over. This year saw some of our friends and allies within the so-called "G20 Main Conspiracy Group" imprisoned by the state, as it imposed it's injustice system through the further criminilization of dissent. Along with political prisoners, the state continued it's oppressive measures on all of society, as the Harper government continued to get "tough" on crime with the omnibus Bill C-10. The crime bill will see the bodies required, flood in to fill the state's ambitious plans for prison expansion (the largest since the 1930s) and also comes during a period of decreasing crime rates across Canada (lowest since 1973). For these reasons, we couldn't let our friends and all other political prisoners (and the many others dealing with incarceration), ring in the New Year alone. That is why around 60 people visited 3 Ontario jails on New Years Eve, to make a whole lot of noise and attempt to make a connection, whatever so little, with those locked away. Personally, it made for one of the most meaningful New Years in a long time. The group of individuals from across Ontario visited the Central North Correctional Centre (Penetanguishene), the Vanier & Maple Hurst prisons (Milton) and the Barton Street Jail (Hamilton). Even helping to spread the word is great! http://www.anarchistbookfair.ca/callout-for-proposals-workshops-tables-art-film-festival-events The Rebel Spell release live set from legendary Vancouver venue The Cobalt:
After a bit of a quiet spell, perhaps a much deserved break, there is finally some news from Vancouver's The Rebel Spell. Released by Vancouver based video production company Ear Goggles comes a new DVD featuring one of the last (if not last?) sets recorded at the now legendary Vancouver punk rock venue, The Cobalt. It just happens to feature The Rebel Spell (couldn't have picked a more fitting band for this one Clay!).
You can order the live set DVD for $5 bucks over at eargogglesdvd.com along with Ear Goggles 6, a fine compilation of Vancouver punk and metal. Proceeds from The Rebel Spell DVD go to A Better Life dog rescue. The Rebel Spell also recently played 2 shows, one in Vancouver and the other in Victoria. More news coming soon from the band, until then, don't forget It's A Beautiful Future, the bands last full length, is currently on sale for the low price of $5 dollars until the New Year. Equalizing-X-Distort: CIUT 89.5fm Interviews The Class Assassins plus live recordings broadcast!
From Equalizing-X-Distort, CIUT 89.5FM, Dec 4, 2011: "This show featured the Class Assassins. The band just released a new single "Treason" and they recorded a set of songs a week and a half ago. It had been ten years since we talked to them and so we filled in the gaps over the last ten years playing material from all their releases and trying to find out why they did what they did?" Chris Farr (guitar), Jamie Vella (guitar), and Gary Cozocar (drums) were interviewed live on Sunday December 4, 2011. Head over to the below link for a variety of ways to listen to the podcast! |
